Privacy policy
EverloveLocks does not have accounts. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect when you buy a lock, who handles it, and how to ask us to delete it.
What we collect
- Your lock: the initials, date, shape, finish and font you choose, and any vow you write. Initials, date and design are shown publicly on the bridge. A vow marked private is never shown publicly.
- Your email address, which you enter at Stripe Checkout. We use it to send your purchase email and to find your lock again. It is never shown publicly.
- Other people's email addresses, only if you give them: a partner's email on an Eternity lock (for the yearly reminder) and the recipient and message of any email card you schedule.
- Private links: each lock has secret tokens that let its owner send cards and read a private vow.
- Visit statistics: pages viewed, device and browser type and approximate location, collected through Google Analytics.
We never see or store your card number. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe.
How we use it
To make and show your lock, take payment, email you your links, send cards and reminders you ask for, answer your messages, prevent fraud and understand how the site is used. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
- Stripe processes your payment and sees your card and billing details.
- Brevo sends our emails. It can see the content and addresses of emails we send and may record whether they were opened and which links were clicked.
- Google Analytics measures visits. We configure it to receive only the page path, not the private parts of a link or any payment session identifier.
- DreamHost hosts the website and its database.
Cookies and storage in your browser
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell visits apart. Your browser also keeps the private links of locks you bought in its local storage, so that you can send cards from the same device. Clearing your browser data removes them; your emailed links still work.
Private links
The secret in a private link is placed after the # so that your browser does not send it to our server, and the site removes it from the address bar when the page opens. Anyone who has a private link can use it, so share the vow link only with the person it is for. Our email provider handles the emails that contain these links.
How long we keep it
A lock, and the information stored with it, is kept for as long as the lock is on the bridge. Unpaid checkouts are removed within hours. Cards you scheduled are kept until they are sent. Our payment and email providers keep their own records under their own policies.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, including removing a lock from the bridge, by writing to hello@everlovelocks.com from the address you used at checkout. Removing a lock is final. See the refund policy if you are asking because you changed your mind.
Children
The site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date below.
